Our day has arrived, babies! 1st December – 7th December is Crohn’s & Colitis Awareness Week in the UK and a chance for us to have our voices heard and make our mark.
Regarded as a notoriously ‘invisible illness’, the campaign is aimed at #MakingTheInvisibleVisible – trying to reach out to people who are unaware of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases as well as bringing more visibility to these illnesses to those who might not know a lot about it.
What’s great about time’s like this, is that it brings people together. As a typically isolating condition, personally I feel that it is nice to have a designated time of year that really encourages people to talk about their condition, share their stories and experiences, and celebrate their achievements whilst battling Crohn’s or Colitis.
So, whatever it is that you do, make sure you acknowledge yourself and others – look back at your highs and lows, positives and negatives and take a moment to reflect on your own personal journey with IBD.
